On receiving the book I didn’t expect a diary format in which to write the results of each day’s workout, but with hindsight this layout works well as it organises the day for you, no guessing needed, and less temptation to stop before the end of the day’s programme.
Sound instructions are wogkout on how to recognise excercise intensity levels, without the need for specialised training equipment such as a heart rate monitor. The book has a totally practical approach and does not enter into discussion on issues such as max and min heart rates, for example. But it works, personally I can feel and see a difference in fitness levels in only two weeks, I am pleased that I bought it.

I must admit I only picked up this book because I am a fan of Pierce Brosnan, but when reading it I was thoroughly impressed. There are many workout books out there, but this is the only one whis stands out. Unlike others, Simon has written this in a really down-to-earth way, understanding how people feel, and their attitudes to exersise,and it is one of workouy few books whiich genuinely feels like you actually have a Personal trainer with wimon. He also includes detailed descriptions of each exercise, performed by himself, as well as entire sections on nutrition, aswell watedson how to mentally prepare for a workout, something frequently overlooked.
Ultimately, this cannot win the battle to get in shape, you have to do that yourself, but this is the most powerful ally you will find. Simon Waterson the author of Commando Workout, is clearly a sorkout motivated individual and presents his training programme in an easy to follow format. The book comes endorsed on the back cover by movie star and British secret agent – Pierce Brosnan.
Each chapter which covers amongst others, recommendations on motivation, nutrition, and of course the 4-week fitness training programme, is both comprehensive and very easy to follow – preparation for the following days training programme is a key factor. It is clear that following this programme would result in a big improvement to any individuals level of fitness. Furthermore, maximum effort is expected at all training sessions. A comprehensive and quite intense training programme most suitable for motivated individuals and those who are prepared to watefson their exercise regime at the crack of dawn.

Could pose problematic to busy professionals, but suitable for early risers. A recommended book for any man or women committed to improving their level of ckmmando fitness. As an ex serviceman myself I ocmmando the direct approach Simon uses. No mollycoddling you flabby civvies! I dropped a star because this is not a book for the unfit couch potato, you do need to be in reasonable condition before you start. However, this waherson actually mentioned but in the middle of the book.
I have no doubt that if you stick to Simon’s programme and just imagine him shouting at you you WILL achieve a higher level of fitness. Just be sure you are ready for it. I have just completed the final stage of the Commando Workout and have enjoyed following the 4 week series of workouts. I have been using it as the preparation phase of my triathlon training after taking a year off and I have been impressed by the way Waterson has shaped the programme with a series of twice daily training sessions, one in the morning designed to work the heart and burn fat and one later in the day designed to build muscle.
The programme fits around your own schedule and fitness level which makes it suitable for those at any level of fitness. The progressive nature of the programme means that you will gain fitness and lose weight at an even pace but it is exactly this progressiveness that is inclined to make you stay with the programme.
The Commando Workout is a programme that can be used on an ongoing basis throughout the year, and I will take elements of it onto my next stage of training but I will come back periodically to do the full workout again whenever I need a shake-up.
